Welcome to the website of the Tasmanian branch of the ANARE Club. Tasmania has a strong connection to the Antarctic community, past and present. The State branch is active and dynamic. We enjoy links with the Australian Antarctic Division, the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery which hosts a permanent Antarctic exhibition, the State Cinema Antarctic Film Festival and the Tasmanian government organisation Antarctic Tasmania.
We would encourage you to visit us regularly as we plan to have frequent updates of the latest ANARE Club, Antarctic and sub Antarctic news and events with our local Tasmanian slant.

Information on the ANARE Club
The Club was founded in 1951 by veterans of the first Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions (ANARE).
The aims of the ANARE Club are to:
Membership
Full membership is open to expeditioners who has served with ANARE south of Latitude 50 degrees South. Associate membership is available to those who have assisted ANARE, as well as members of other polar expeditions. People with a general interest in Australian Antarctic and subAntarctic regions, history and current events are invited to become a subscriber to our quality magazine 'Aurora' which is published quarterly. In conjunction with the club website, the Aurora provides a valuable forum for discussing current happenings as well as articles submitted by members detailing experiences 'down south'.
Membership for all categories (full, associate and subscriber) is $40 per year for Australian and Australian Territory postal addresses and $50 for overseas addresses. This includes postage and delivery of the Aurora magazine. There is currently a special offer for new members: five years initial membership for the price of three.
Club souvenirs in the form of lapel badges, ties, T-shirts, wine glasses, plaques etc. are also available for purchase via the Aurora or website.
